A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck, addressing redundant skin of the face and neck and often excess fat of the neck.

As a restorative surgery, a facelift does not change your fundamental appearance and cannot stop the aging process. A facelift can only be performed surgically; nonsurgical rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve the same results but may help delay the time at which a facelift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery.

What can a Facelift improve:

-Relaxation of the skin of the face causing sagging

-Deepening of the fold lines between the nose and corner of the mouth

-Fat that has fallen or has disappeared

-Jowls developing in the cheeks and jaw

-Loose skin and excess fat of the neck that can appear as a double chin or “turkey neck”

-The loss of youthful contours in the face can be due to a variety of factors, including thinning of the skin, loss of facial fat, gravity, sun damage, smoking, as well as heredity and stress.

Mentoplasty, also known as chin surgery, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone.

Sometimes bone from the jaw itself can be moved forward in an operation called a mentoplasty or genioplasty. Alternatively, shaped silicone implants can be used to give more projection to the chin. Conversely, bone can be removed to decrease an overly projecting chin. Modifications to the upper and/or lower jaw can be advised for improved chewing dynamics and occlusion—or how the teeth fit together. These operations can range from simple to very complex.

Many times a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery or procedures to a patient having a rhinoplasty in order to achieve better facial proportions, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose.

An Otoplasty also known as “ear pinning” of cosmetic ear surgery is performed to pull the ears closer to the head so they don’t stick out. This surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Ear surgery is safe and simple. It requires no overnight hospital stay.

Who can benefit from an Otoplasty?

Otoplasty is often performed on children or adolescents; however, the procedure is also very effective in older patients who would like to improve the appearance of their ears after what may have been a lifetime of self-consciousness. Candidates for ear surgery include:

-Adults who would like to reduce the appearance of prominent ears

-Children whose ear cartilage has reached at least 75% maturation (usually between five and eight years old)

-Patients who suffer from a lack of self-confidence due to the appearance of prominent ears

Rhinoplasty, sometimes referred to as a “nose job” or “nose reshaping” by patients, enhances facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. This is a surgery that changes the shape of the nose. The motivation for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing or both. The upper portion of the structure of the nose is bone, and the lower portion is cartilage.

Rhinoplasty can be done to correct a deviated septum to improve an obstructed airway. Correction of a deviated septum, one of the most common causes of breathing impairment, is achieved by adjusting the nasal structure to produce better alignment.

What can a Rhinoplasty treat:

-Nose size in relation to facial balance

-Nose width at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils

-Nose profile with visible humps or depressions on the bridge

-Nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked

-Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned

-Nasal asymmetry

Brow Lift, also known as a forehead lift, reduces wrinkle lines, improves frown lines, raises sagging eyebrows and places the eyebrows in a youthful position. A forehead lift is an increasingly popular aesthetic surgery, generally done when a patient wants to remove signs of upper facial aging. A small incision is made a few centimeters behind the hairline and dissection is made at the level of the bone down to the eyebrows to release the excess skin from the scalp. Excess tissue is redistributed upwards or removed to smooth out unwanted furrows and deep forehead wrinkles.

What brow lift can treat:

-Reduces the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes

-Improves frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows

-Raises sagging brows that are hooding the upper eyelids

-Places the eyebrows in an alert and youthful position

Other cosmetic procedures that may be performed with a brow lift include:

-Upper and or lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

-Skin resurfacing techniques
